As SFU Surrey campus director, Steve sits on a number of community partnership tables including the Surrey Poverty Reduction Coalition (co‐chair) and The Local Immigration Partnership. Steve is also a board member on the Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IEC BC). Steve remains active in community based research projects, and was the lead for a recent study of refugee settlement and integration with the City of Surrey.

 

Steve was co‐chair of C2UExpo 2017 – For the Common Good (May, 2017) an international conference held at SFU Surrey and SFU Vancouver. The conference hosted to more than 600 delegates from across Canada around the world to discuss the impact of community university partnerships. Prior to joining the team at SFU, Steve worked at Kwantlen Polytechnic University for more than 20 years where he was the founder of The Centre For Interdisciplinary Research: Community Learning and Engagement (CIR:CLE).
