Belinda Li, a PhD candidate in the Food Systems Lab at Simon Fraser University and a Fall 2024 Graduate Fellow, is exploring how community composting supports sustainable food systems in rural British Columbia. Partnering with Making Agriculture Sustainable in the Hazeltons (MASH), she helped develop a community composting pilot while collecting data for her research. Blending science and art, Belinda uses songwriting to communicate her findings, creating the music video “Community Composting Hoedown” to share insights with communities in an engaging way. Her innovative approach highlights how research can build connections, inspire action, and make sustainability accessible to all. Read more about Belinda’s work here.
