Community-Based Research Canada (CBRCanada) invites qualified candidates to join the Board of Directors. For over 10 years, the CBRCanada Board has provided leadership, governance, and oversight to the organization, guiding it from its beginnings as a network of community-based researchers to its current position as a national champion and facilitator of community-based research excellence.
Made up exclusively of volunteers, the Board supports CBRCanada in its mission to advance community-based research excellence in Canada by strengthening partnerships, bridging capacity, and championing community-based research among individuals, communities, and institutions.
The Board is looking for new members who:
exhibit a strong commitment towards and substantial experience conducting, promoting, and/or facilitating community-based research locally and nationally
align with CBRCanada’s commitment to decolonization, racial justice, and social justice more broadly
are affiliated with one of CBRCanada’s 50+ member institutions and/or bring new networks that can expand CBRCanada’s reach
are committed to contributing to CBRCanada programming and membership engagement by active participation on subcommittees
The Board is comprised of up to 15 academics, researchers, non-profit, and community leaders from across Canada. Each Director is elected to fill a one-year term, with the possibility of re-election at subsequent Annual General Meetings. The Board meets virtually on a quarterly basis at a mutually agreed upon time. Board members are also expected to join subcommittees, based on interest, need and availability and actively contribute to the CBRCanada programming and membership engagement.
Applications accepted on a rolling basis.
Those who apply prior to our Annual General Meeting (November) may be able to stand for election at our upcoming AGM.
Potential applicants can meet with current board co-chairs to discuss board responsibilities and their contributions to the team.
Interested applicants may want to familiarize themselves with what is happening at CBRCanada, by reviewing the strategic plan for 2020-2025, as well as program offerings available online.
