With mixed emotions, the CBRCanada Secretariat shares the news that Executive Director Joanna Ochocka is stepping down as E.D while maintaining her role as Co-Chair of the CBRCanada board. Previously in the role of Program Coordinator & Learning specialist, Amanda Demmer will be a familiar face to many and has been appointed the new CBRCanada Executive Director. We share with you a message from Joanna Ochocka regarding this transition:

"After almost 5 years as Acting Executive Director of CBRCanada, I’m transitioning back to the role of Board Co-Chair. It’s a bittersweet transition — I’ve loved the challenge of building an organization, member conversations and community moments that’s come with this role.

I’m thrilled to share that my colleague and co-instructor of the national CBRCanada Certified course, Amanda Demmer, is taking on the role of Executive Director. Amanda is one of the most exceptional leaders, facilitators, and teachers I’ve had the privilege of working alongside for the past 10 years. Her ability to lead, motivate, and empower any group is unparalleled. She knows CBR and CBRCanada inside and out and brings the skills and knowledge to guide our national network forward.

As Board co-chair, I’ll continue to focus on long-term strategy, value creation, and growth, as well as CBR teaching and coaching, while stepping back from day-to-day operations. Amanda will lead our exceptional team and programs and oversee daily business. After 5 years in operations and 18 as a founding partner, I’m more committed than ever to CBRCanada’s mission, programs, and membership. I’m grateful for the journey, and genuinely excited about what’s ahead.

Please join me in welcoming Amanda as our new Executive Director. Reach out, say hello, and share your ideas at amanda@communityresearchcanada — she’d love to hear from you. I’ll still be part of CBRCanada, just in a different capacity, so let’s stay connected."

With appreciation,

Joanna Ochocka
