Call for Speakers for CBRCanada's Winter/Spring 2023 e-Learning Series

Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Community-Based Research Canada presents “Moving the Dial”: our Winter & Spring 2023 E-Learning series. This 6-month series running from January to June 2023 will highlight action-oriented community-based research that is ‘moving the dial’ on today’s pressing societal challenges. An important hallmark of community-based research, taking an action-orientated and impactful approach, means research partnerships mobilizing knowledge and mobilizing communities towards positive societal change. The research projects highlighted within this series demonstrate impact of community-based research. We will hear about research partnerships that facilitated actions improving societal conditions, including changes in policies, systems, organizations, and communities where everyone is supported and belongs.

We are calling to all community-based researchers (community members and academics) to consider presenting in this series to showcase action-oriented projects. We want Canada to be inspired by concrete actions, attempts and the impact of your community-based research projects. Topics/themes to be addressed may be anything from social justice, environmental sustainability, or any other pressing and relevant challenge to society.

Presenters within this series will share a 30-minute presentation following by a 15-minute question and answer period and will then co-facilitate with CBRCanada a live discussion on action orientation within their research topic.

If you are interested in presenting, or nominating a presenter to speak, please email Amanda Demmer, CBRCanada Program Coordinator, at amanda@communitybasedresearch.ca by January 17th

Please include in your email:

  • Your name (or name of the proposed speaker(s)) and organization/institution(s) you are affiliated with

  • A brief description of the research project and how it has 'moved the dial'
