About the Event
The Hearts + Minds project team is proud and excited to invite you to a celebration of our project launch to share our collective learnings about community connections for Indigenous and Black young people. This virtual event will include performance, learning, dialogue and engagement.
Who is this event for? We hope it’s for you. You might identify as a changemaker, systems leader or an agitator or a tender heart who urgently insists on more justice and equity for everyone – especially Indigenous and Black communities. While all are warmly invited to this event, we think Indigenous and/or Black young people, youth practitioners in helping professions, not-for-profit personnel, community-based researchers, and anyone with an interest in how social capital is amassed would enjoy this event.
Hearts + Minds is a community-based research project funded by NSERC. It aims to mobilize the insights Indigenous and/or Black young people possess related to their community connections through practical tools. These tools will support the development of programs and services within and beyond the voluntary sector, in ways that are welcoming and affirming to Indigenous and Black young people. This is a collaborative project between Sheridan College, Volunteer MBC, Moyo Health and Community Services, and ResQ Youth that centres the voices and experiences of Indigenous and Black youth.
