C2UExpo (Community-Campus-Exposition) is the bi-annual Canadian-led international conference providing leadership and space for both academics and communities to engage in showcasing community-campus partnerships that address local and global societal problems.
NORDIK Institute, Algoma University and Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig are proud to host C2UExpo in May 2020. Located in Baawating, otherwise known as Sault Ste. Marie, in Northern Ontario at the historic crossroads of the Upper Great Lakes, NORDIK, Algoma U and SKG have a distinguished record of community-based research and cross-cultural and culture-based education. NORDIK Institute is a community-based research group with the goal of building Northern Ontario’s capacity to conduct research that contributes to social, economic and environmental justice in rural, Indigenous and northern communities. Algoma University was first established as a college of Laurentian University in 1965 and gained independence in 2008, offering a wide range of degrees spanning liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies. Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig is a centre of excellence in Anishinaabe education and member of the Aboriginal Institutes Consortium. Algoma University and Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig share a special mission to cultivate cross-cultural learning between Anishinaabe populations and other communities.
The theme for 2020, Culture, Place, and Resilience, for which we invite a wide range of work by scholars, practitioners and community members that explores the connections of community-based research and education to cultural shifts, Indigenous cultural and philosophical revitalization, social innovation, and systems change.
