About the Event
Webinar Description: The webinar presenter, Ngozi Joe-Ikechebelu, will discuss her research experience working in British Columbia with Sub-Saharan African Women Living with HIV (SSAWLH). She will also explore barriers and opportunities for SSAWLH to lead their own research and how that reframes HIV prevention approaches. Ngozi’s experience will reflect on the topic of genuine community participation and of knowledge mobilization in research.
Speaker Bio:
Ngozi Joe-Ikechebelu
Ngozi is a PhD Candidate in the Social Dimensions of Health (SDH) program of the School of Public Health and Social Policy (PHSP) in the Faculty of Human and Social Development of Health at the University of Victoria. Ngozi works on intersecting socio-structural issues that affect sub-Saharan African women and equity-centred local solutions to climate change. A sub-Saharan African woman, wife and mother from Nigeria, she currently volunteers her service to the Afro-Canadian Pacific Network (ACPNet) of BC; a sub-Saharan African community in Surrey.
